Epona Workshop

10/8/08:  Really amazing workshop, with some very useful interactions and breakthroughs with the horses.   Just Terrific.   All the horses enjoyed being used in this event and sharing their energy with everyone.

Epona Approach™ I:

Expanding Human Potential
October 4-5

The horse, a magnificent creature of power, grace and beauty is also a teacher and mirror to humans. This highly experiential workshop challenges you to step deeper into an understanding of yourself.

During this workshop you will have opportunities to practice the following skills with the horses:

§ Access the power behind emotions. Our equine friends teach how to transform emotion into useful messages that can guide our lives in positive ways
§ Learn how to communicate more authentically with your Inner Self and with those that share your life
§ Shift from a dominance-based to a collaboration-based model for living
§ Acknowledge and honor your creative and intuitive Self, and open yourself up to the "Sacred Space of Possibility"

No riding experience is necessary.

Michael Vermaas Clinic - 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Every clinic seems more fun than the last.  Michael now has a microphone system for the riders, and we're hoping to have it plugged into a PA system next month.

Mags jumped this time at the clinic which was really fun to watch - he loved it!   We left the cavalettis out for Valentine (left, 3 year old) - she didn't know what to make of that whole idea, but, she was a good sport about it.   Poppy Getman brought her Hanoverian, Little John, and did a superb job of riding and learning.  Dana Pentaze brought her 3 year old Arab gelding who settled down nicely to do some beautiful canter work.  Robin, Jessi and Fern did great too!   Very impressive, Fern, that you brought all 3 of your horses on your own!   Genoka, get well!!

Aussie Logic Nutrition Clinic

This was well attended and I heard from quite a few that they were glad they came as the information was very good and not widely known.   I'm hoping to have some clips of this on the website soon as well as some written information.

AUSSIE LOGIC - HORSES ARE THEIR PASSION

This is not just a Nutrition Clinic

Dr. Geoff Thomas, forage geneticist and animal nutrition specialist
Dale Moulton, Equine Behavioral Sciences Consultant
Dr. John Cusak, Equine Veterinarian

It is doubtful we can have these men together again here in Austin to share their expertise and insights into the truth about the equine digestive system and the equine mind.

This is new information for most of us and it is real eye opener.

The results are speaking for themselves
FEED SMART. PROBLEM SOLVED.

This is a FUN DRESSAGE SHOW!   Lots of tasty snacks, drinks and sitting out on the new 'observation deck' enjoying our friends.   Leslie Cummings, 'L' judge out of Alvin, judging.

We are also offering a 'Sporthorse Versatility Class' and 2 Prix Caprilli classes this time.

The Show Bill to the left is Michael Vermaas on Hanoverian Gelding, Magnificent, in the L&L Boarding arena.   Show bill and program cover courtesy of Monica Adams, professional horse photographer and website designer.   www.WebsitesVoila.com and www.MonicaAdams.com

We have a new back entrance to the round pen warm up ring so as not to disturb the ride in progress.   Also, the warm up area has being groomed and expanded this week! I think everyone will be really happy with the improvements to the facility.

Michael Vermaas Clinic - 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

We had a very fun day.  Robin Whittenbaugh rode her PMU mare, Cinder, for the first time in the arena, and I rode my 3 year old Valentine for the first time as well.  Both were started by Michael and both girls are happy in their new jobs and it shows.  We are both thrilled with their speedy progress and attitudes.  Genoka Thomassey had a fun jumping lesson on her Andalusian mare, Xena - that girl can jump!   Be sure to come audit the next clinic or ride.  You don't know what you are missing.

Sylvia Loch listed Michael as one of the top 15 Classical Dressage trainers in the world.
Come audit - it's free!  And, so, is the homemade Mexican food for lunch this time!

Trail Ride Packing Clinic

THIS WAS FANTASTIC - we all hope she     gives another one.  We may be planning to get a group together for a trail ride in Bandera this year!

Back by demand! Many folks were caught up in the championship frenzy during the fall but wanted a trail riding clinic re-deaux so here it is! Only this time, we are offering coco and chocolate selections for the gnoshing--chicken mole enchiladas (hey, that's got some chocolate in it!); godiva coffee drinks (Yuummm!); for later, chili with some cinammon and chocolate mixed in (intriguing!); chocolate pots de creme; brownies. You get the picture....

That's the fun food...but here's to the "meat" of the matter: Feb. 9th, Sat., 9-12. $35 to audit (includes food).
Held at Kay Skillern's facility in Oak Hill, TX. 10718 Twilight Vista. Checks to made out to Ginny Robinson.

Come and enjoy a morning of talking about nothing but horses and vacations! Ginny Robinson will present ways to do short and long camping trips with your favorite animal, your horse! She has ridden the Continental Divide Trail and Wilderness areas across the Rocky Mountains for twenty years. "It's more fun taking your horse with you on a vacation," she explains. Ring work and all the skills you've taught your horse at home can be put to practical use on the trail. Your trip can be a short simple overnight, close to Austin, or onto scenic Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming destinations. She will teach you how to plan, pack, and prepare for your trip. Handouts provided. This will give you beautiful options you and your horse can enjoy for a lifetime. Plan to join us if adventure and a change from your routine sounds intriguing.

Power point presentation with stirring music and lecture. Hands on demonstrations of how to tie a high-line and how to pack and make ready a trailer. Relax, eat, and learn.

Contact Ingrid Edisen (organizer) at ingrid.dressage@prodigy.net or cell 217-2397 (Austin number, area code 512).
