Post-frame buildings have a frame, similar to the frames in all steel buildings, instead of the vertical studs and conventional trusses in stick-built buildings. The roof beams and leg columns in Dandi buildings are nail-laminated from dimensional lumber. No solid posts are used, and no wood is put in the ground.

Post-frame buildings maintain the advantages of wood framing and offer the strength of all-steel structures. Dandi buildings lock the wall girts and roof purlins into the beams and leg columns, over-coming the warping and twisting common to stick-built buildings. Dandi's lofted ceilings eliminate the bird's nest appearance of conventional trusses.
